The study employed the survey descriptive research design. A total of 30 responses were validated from the survey. The study adopts the Churchmanian Theory of Knowledge Management Systems. From the responses obtained and analysed, the findings reveals that libraries have a role to play in the economic development of Nigeria. Furthermore, the use of library in higher institutions serves as an economic engine. The study recommends that the government should integrate the libraries in sustainable economic development policies. The study further recommends that there is a need for adequate funding of the library in different sectors of the economy in order to acquire necessary resources and facilities that facilitate the distribution of required information to the users.
